Three Daughters FULL LENGTH VERSION! Mon May 18 at 7pm Based on three stories by the great Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore, this rarely seen Ray film presents three different flavors of love. In part one, “The Postmaster”—for several critics a highpoint in Ray’s work—the title new arrival to a small village teaches his young servant to read and write. Part two, “The Lost Jewels,” is a village schoolmaster’s story about a merchant who tries to use his wife’s jewels to recoup his losses from a fire, only to drive her away. In part three, “The Conclusion,” an educated man returns to his village and, against everyone’s advice, marries the least likely candidate: a local, tomboyish prankster.
