Serge Peretti, danseur noble and a still a dandy at the age of 91, is the quintessential inheritor of the classical training of the French school, nourished by the influence of Italians like Vestris, Taglioni and Coralli. Six months before Peretti’s death, Delouche filmed the historic figure, who incarnates the purity and elegance of his training in ballets by Fokine, Nijinska and Lifar. Also a master teacher at the Paris Opera, he inspired French stars Cyril Atanassoff and Attilo Labis, among others. The two shorts complement the program: Autour de la Sylphide (1984; 10m), with Ghislaine Thesmar and Michael Demard, and Pas à pas (1982; 8m), a John Neumeier pas de deux with Patrick Dupond.
