Police inspector Paco Valduque (Angel de Andrés López) unexpectedly runs into his former partner, Angel Barciela (Carmelo Gómez), at a funeral. Years before, Paco and Angel were assigned to investigate a mysterious triple homicide. The case was never solved, but the two now meet Julia Buendia (Emma Suárez), the daughter of the newly deceased. She begins recounting details of her and her father’s life that lead the detectives to believe that they can finally solve the triple homicide that has haunted them for years. Miró and her team, especially art director Gil Parrondo and cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe, brilliantly capture the look and feel of the post-Civil War period, as the mystery expands to include secret fifth column organizations, simmering jealousies and long-hidden family secrets.
