Kairos Italy Theater presents the US premiere of an unforgettable performance: Accattone in Jazz. Pier Paolo Pasolini’s celebrated screenplay for Accattone is revisited by Italian movie star Valerio Mastandrea, as he weaves a unique interplay of words and music together with Italian jazz legends and longtime collaborators Roberto Gatto and Danilo Rea, winner of Europe’s most important jazz award, the Golden Django. Produced for the first time at Roccella Jazz in 2003, the performance toured some of Italy’s most important theater venues; it comes to New York to offer a fitting close to the Film Society’s celebration of one of Italy’s most provocative artistic voices.
Accattone in Jazz is made possible through the support of the Assessorato alle Politiche Culturali del Comune di Roma and of the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, and it is endorsed by Silversalt pr – international film publicity. Photo credit: courtesy of Saint Louis Management.
