With his rebellious teenage daughter (Molly Ringwald in her second screen role) in tow, he lands on a Greek island, uninhabited except by a free-spirited divorcee (Susan Sarandon) and an eccentric shepherd (Raul Julia) living in a cave. The simple life may be elusive but marriage, Phillip learns, “is like baseball—it’s a long season.” The scenery is gorgeous, the cast appealing and male maturity only an island away.
