Joshua
July 2: 8

A preview screening of the Sundance award winning film followed by a Q&A with director/co-screenwriter George Ratliff (Hell House), producer Johnathan Dorfman and cast members.

Tickets are $12 for members & students; $16 for the general public.

Joshua
George Ratliff, US, 2007; 106m
A non-supernatural take on the evil offspring genre, Joshua is an intelligent, chilling portrait of a picture-perfect Manhattan family falling apart at the seams. Sam Rockwell and Vera Farmiga play the parents of a perpetually crying baby girl and a nine-year-old musical prodigy, Joshua (newcomer Jacob Kogan), whose behavior becomes increasingly sinister. Hard to label (horror, psychological thriller or domestic drama), this layered, impeccably shot work won Benoît Debie the Best Cinematography prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It also features fine supporting performances by Celia Weston, Michael McKean and Dallas Roberts, and a memorable soundtrack punctuated by Joshua’s haunting piano playing and the wails of a newborn infant.
