Hired to kill the boss of a powerful triad, Lai Fu leaves his village to head for Hong Kong. He has another agenda: to find Sue, a young woman from his village that the city has apparently swallowed up. Lai Fu's hunt leads him to Mongkok--reputedly, the most densely populated residential area in the world. But when he steps in to protect a prostitute, his cover is blown. Soon, he's the one being hunted, both by the triads and by the police, who want to stop him before he sets off a major gang war. Few Hong Kong films feel as raw as One Night in Mongkok. Real locations are brilliantly used: You can practically smell the tiny corner restaurants and feel the narrowness of the alleys.
