The Film Society is honored to present two days of music and reconciliation with two films that focus on the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. A project created by the late Palestinian scholar Edward W. Said and musician/conductor Daniel Barenboim with the aim of bringing together young musicians from all over the Middle East, the orchestra, which continues to play under the direction of Barenboim, has become a unique symbol of hope in a dark and troubled time, winning admirers and audiences around the globe. These two films not only celebrate the wonderful musicianship of the orchestra, but also chronicle the difficulties and complications that have followed the project since its inception.

The live concert from Ramallah attracted worldwide attention far beyond the musical community.
