Young Friends of Film (YFF) is a
membership program for 21-40 year-old film buffs, who
have not had the opportunity to view classic films as
they were meant to be seen-on the big screen. In addition
to all the benefits of regular Film Society membership,
YFF members receive six special screenings per year
with noteworthy guest speakers followed by great parties
(see schedule below). Additional YFF benefits include
one pair of complimentary tickets per month to select
Walter Reade Theater series and invitations to preview
screenings of new films before they are released in
theaters.
Jean-Pierre Melville (Le
Cercle rouge, Le Samourai) crafts a stylish and
sexy tale of a career criminal who plans an intricate,
almost impossible job involving a casino. This memorable
film was unreleased in the U.S. until 1982 and later
re-made as Neil Jordan’s The
Good Thief.
As always, an open-bar, catered reception will follow the screening. There will also be a free raffle drawing for a prize donated by the exquisite Chocolat Michel Cluizel boutique, located in ABC Carpet & Home.
