Orpheus Dreaming: Michelle Hill
April 8 - 14, 2009

In the Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery ~ adjacent to the Walter Reade Theater lobby. Open daily 1:30 to 6pm.

“My intent is to breathe new life into the retelling of ancient legend and folk myth…I want to present stories in a contemporary high-tech idiom to awaken an international audience that already embraces the digital culture, as well as exploit this technology to give new life and expression to ancient myths. By reaching into the past I continue my own journey to understand my personal history as an African-American whose roots are found in the Ivory Coast on the continent of Africa. These works represent a period of growth and personal transition— searching and using my skills as an artist to find my way.”—Michelle Hill
