FILM SOCIETY OF LINCOLN CENTER BRINGS AWARD-WINNING CHEF AND RESTAURATEUR DANIEL BOULUD INTO FOLD FOR
39th ANNUAL CHAPLIN AWARD
NEW YORK, NY (February 21, 2012) – The Film Society of Lincoln Center, America’s pre-eminent New York-based non-profit film organization, announced today that it has brought Chef Daniel Boulud’s Feast & Fêtes Catering onboard to create a French-accented dinner with the flavors of early spring for their 39th Annual Chaplin Award gala honoring Catherine Deneuve, taking place this year on Monday April 2nd 2012.
“Daniel Boulud is an award-winning chef whose extraordinary contemporary French cuisine has made a significant mark in the culinary world,” said FSLC Executive Director, Rose Kuo. “We are excited about his participation in what is sure to be the ultimate marriage of food and film.”
Daniel Boulud, a native of Lyon, France, is today considered one of America’s leading culinary authorities and one of New York’s most revered chefs. He has made this city his home since 1982, and is the man to turn to when it comes to French cuisine in New York. Daniel is chef-owner of db Bistro Moderne, DBGB Kitchen and Bar, Bar Boulud, Café Boulud, Boulud Sud and Épicerie Boulud. In all his restaurants you’ll find a warm welcome combined with traces of the soulfully satisfying traditional cooking he grew up with on his family’s Rhone Valley farm. Yet he is best known for New York’s exquisitely refined DANIEL, the renowned three Michelin star Relais & Châteaux restaurant. You’ll also discover the chef’s ingredient driven seasonal French-American cooking in Miami and Palm Beach, FL and internationally in London, Singapore and Beijing. Boulud is the recipient of three James Beard Foundation awards, including Outstanding Chef and Outstanding Restaurateur and was named a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur by the French government as well as Chef of the Year 2011 by The Culinary Institute of America. He is the author of six cookbooks and the creator and host of the television series, After Hours with Daniel. Boulud is a generous and energetic supporter of Citymeals-on-Wheels, serving on their board of directors since 2000 and is also co-founder and Chairman of the Bocuse d’Or USA Foundation.
“I’ve had the honor of cooking for many legendary personalities, but this is a unique opportunity to offer my cuisine to one of France’s greatest actresses in an incredible evening bringing together film and food. Working with Lincoln Center and contributing to the world of the performing arts in our city continues to be one of the most gratifying aspects of my life as a chef in New York,” says Daniel Boulud.
Academy Award-nominee Catherine Deneuve will be honored at the 39th Annual Chaplin Award Gala held in Alice Tully Hall on the evening of Monday, April 2, 2012. The event will be attended by a host of notable guests and celebrities honoring the international film legend’s groundbreaking career and will feature film and interview clips culminating in the presentation of The Chaplin Award.
The Film Society’s Annual Gala began in 1972 and honored Charles Chaplin – who returned to the US from exile to accept the commendation. Since then, the award has been renamed for Chaplin, and has honored many of the film industry’s most notable talents, including Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Laurence Olivier, Federico Fellini, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, James Stewart, Robert Altman, Martin Scorsese, Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas and most recently, Sidney Poitier.
