The Film Society of Lincoln Center announces a retrospective of films produced by teenage filmmakers through the Educational Video Center’s Youth Documentary Workshop. From the crack epidemic of the 1980s and explosion of hip hop in the 1990s, to the dislocation and housing foreclosure crisis of today, young people use their cameras to tell the stories of their times. Spanning three decades, this extraordinary documentary series captures moments in New York City’s history through the fresh, but unblinking eyes of emerging filmmakers.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced details today for War and Remembrance: The Films of Aleksei Guerman (March 14-20). Screening at the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street), the film series (co-presented with Seagull Films, with the assistance of Lenfilm Studios and generous support provided by George Gund III) will celebrate the work of the great filmmaker whose films rarely play outside the borders of Russia with the first North American retrospective of his work.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center is proud to announce two new monthly series spotlighting up and coming directors. ART OF THE REAL, is a new monthly documentary showcase that will take audiences on a tour of the most innovative and consciousness-raising, non-fiction filmmaking being made in the world today. INDIE NIGHT will spotlight the best and boldest new wave of independent cinema. In keeping with the tradition of supporting and showcasing emerging filmmakers, this new series will also be shaped by notable guest curators who hail from the American indie vanguard. Award-wining producer Ted Hope (MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, ADVENTURELAND) has been announced as co-curator’s of the series for the next year.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Museum of Modern Art announced the full lineup today for the 41st edition of New Directors/New Films (March 21 – April 1). Dedicated to the discovery of new works by emerging and dynamic filmmaking talent, the film festival will screen 29 feature films (24 narrative, 5 documentary) and 12 short films representing 28 countries.

To coincide with the annual upcoming program Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, the Family Films series will have a decidedly French point of view for the March and April lineup as it moves from winter to spring. With colorful films from France as well as some lively American musicals set in Paris there will be laughs, music and merriment. For the month of April, families can take a cinematic excursion and globe trot around the world to Russia, Belgium, The Netherlands and Kenya during the Spring Break Special with four new flicks for kids.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today that Amy Taubin will be joining the New York Film Festival Selection Committee. Taubin replaces critic Dennis Lim who concluded his three-year term. FSLC's year-long countdown to the New York Film Festival’s historic 50th edition continues through March and April, offering the rare opportunity to view several undisputed classics of the big screen, many of which were introduced to the world at NYFF. These include breakthrough films by Tarkovsky, Jackie Chan, Clint Eastwood, Michael Moore and a tribute to the late Raul Ruiz. A special appearance will be made by director Michael Moore at the ROGER & ME screening on Tuesday, April 24.

The 17th edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Unifrance Films’ celebrated annual showcase of the best in contemporary French film, announced today that it will expand its lineup with Rendez-Vous +, a selection of over a dozen contemporary documentaries and classic films. The new addition to the 2012 lineup was made possible by the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy.

More than two dozen New York premieres will be showcased during the series, including box-office sensation THE INTOUCHABLES; new work from master directors André Téchiné, Benoit Jacquot and Alain Cavalier, a beautifully restored print of one of the best-loved masterworks of French cinema and our special Centerpiece, Marcel Carné’s CHILDREN OF PARADISE; plus the Closing Night selection, DELICACY, the latest from Audrey Tautou, who will be on hand to present the film.
