Film series celebrates Richard Linklater’s beloved trilogy with screenings of BEFORE SUNRISE, BEFORE SUNSET and BEFORE MIDNIGHT, as well as Linklater’s WAKING LIFE. FSLC announces Views from the Avant-Garde special event with Dani Leventhal

The Film Society of Center announced today a special Views From the Avant-Garde evening presenting the work of video artist Dani Leventhal on Wednesday, December 18 to celebrate the occasion of her receiving the 2013 Kazuko Trust Scholarship Award Grant. The Grant is presented by the Kazuko Trust and The Film Society in recognition for her excellence with experimental work. The evening will include the premiere of two of her newest works (SISTER CITY, NIKHOLE), as well as a special teaser for a new work-in-progress (HARD AS OPAL).

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today, Liv & Ingmar: The Films will screen from December 13-19 in conjunction with Dheeraj Akolkar’s documentary, LIV & INGMAR opening at Film Society on Friday, December 13. Film series highlights the cinema classics created by the legendary filmmaker Ingmar Bergman with his partner and muse Liv Ullmann, including AUTUMN SONATA, CRIES AND WHISPERS, PERSONA and “Scenes From a Marriage”.

21-film retrospective Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema at FSLC

Milestone will be launching the 21-film retrospective Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema throughout North America. Premiering in New York City at the Film Society of Lincoln Center on February 5th, 2014, the series features films from some of Poland’s most accomplished and lauded filmmakers, spanning the period from 1957–1987. Curated by Martin Scorsese, each film has been digitally re-mastered and brilliantly restored to newly subtitled DCPs. The program was created and organized by Scorsese’s non-profit organization, The Film Foundation.

The Jewish Museum & FSLC present the 23rd annual New York Jewish Film Festival

The Jewish Museum and The Film Society of Lincoln Center will present the 23rd annual New York Jewish Film Festival at the Film Society’s Walter Reade Theater and Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, Jan. 8-23, 2014. The festival’s 49 features and shorts from ten countries - 23 screening in their world, U.S. or New York premieres - provide a diverse global perspective on the Jewish experience. Opening Night launches with the US Premiere of Anne Weil and Philippe Kotlarski’s Friends from France and the Closing Night selection is Pawel Pawlikowski’s Ida. Highlights include Bethlehem, Israel’s submission for the 2013 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film; a selection of films by Wim Wenders; the 30th Anniversary celebration of Paris, Texas; an Artist Focus on Yael Bartana; midnight screening of Saul Bass’s Phase IV and much more!

FSLC will present select episodes of Sundance Channel’s THE RETURNED on Nov. 23, Free to the public

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today it will present Episodes 1 and 2 from Sundance Channel’s hit THE RETURNED (LES REVENANTS), created by Fabrice Gobert and adapted from the 2004 film, THEY CAME BACK. On Saturday, November 23 at 4PM, the episodes will screen back-to-back, for free to the public, in the Amphitheater at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center. A Q&A will immediately follow the screening with producers Caroline Benjo, Carole Scotta, and Jimmy Desmarais. The event will be co-presented by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and Music Box Films.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Dance Films Association today announced the lineup for the 42nd edition of Dance on Camera. Taking place January 31-February 4, the dance-centric film festival returns to the Film Society for the 18th consecutive year with a world-class array of international dance films, including many world and US premieres.
