Free Friday HBO Films and Rod Epstein/Jeffrey Friedman and Lee Daniels added to Summer Talks

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today additions to their popular series of free summer programming highlighted by Friday screenings throughout August of critically acclaimed HBO FILMS titles Behind the Candelabra, Cinema Verite, Too Big To Fail and Game Change. Each film will screen twice each Friday, 4:00PM and 7:30PM, in the Amphitheater at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center. The on-going free-to-the-public Summer Talks series has also added Lovelace directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman on July 31 at 7PM, and director Lee Daniels on August 15 at 7PM for Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

FSLC announces CINEMA OF RESISTANCE, a weeklong survey of politically charged films

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the lineup for Cinema of Resistance, (August 23-29) a weeklong survey of politically charged films from around the world. Jean-Luc Godard once declared it was no longer enough to make political films. “One must make films politically,” he said. The 16-film presentation includes fiction and documentary films that have responded to urgent circumstances in precisely this spirit: radical in both content and form, ever mindful of the relationship between politics and aesthetics. Ranging from the Vietnam War to Occupy Wall Street, addressing conflicts in Algeria, Ireland, and Afghanistan, these films offer an essential view of cinema’s historical, and continuing, role in revolutionary culture.

FSLC & AMC announce details for the upcoming THE PERFECT BATCH: BREAKING BAD CAST FAVORITES

The Film Society of Lincoln Center (FSLC) and AMC announced today the confirmed cast, and schedule details, for the upcoming “The Perfect Batch: Breaking Bad Cast Favorites,” for which series Creator and Executive Producer Vince Gilligan will join, previously announced participants, stars Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Betsy Brandt, RJ Mitte, Dean Norris and Bob Odenkirk, to present their favorite episodes and participate in Q&A sessions. New additions to the cast lineup include Betsy Brandt and Dean Norris, and moderators for the conversations will be Matt Zoller Seitz, television critic for New York Magazine and editor in chief of RogerEbert.com on August 1 and Emily Nussbaum, television critic for The New Yorker on August 2. The conversation portion of the evening will be live streamed through Filmlinc.com. Afterwards, fans may find the panel video in its entirety on amc.com. Tickets will go on sale on Filmlinc.com tomorrow, Friday, July 19 at noon.

FSLC to host world premiere of THE CANYONS as part of AN EVENING WITH PAUL SCHRADER

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today it will host An Evening with Paul Schrader on Monday, July 29. The evening will include the World Premiere of Schrader’s drama THE CANYONS, the highly anticipated first public screening of the film, which will then be followed by a conversation between Schrader and the New York Film Festival Program Director, Kent Jones.

FSLC & AMC partner to present BREAKING BAD events including marathon and cast favorites

The Film Society of Lincoln Center (FSLC) and AMC announced today a first-of-its-kind collaboration to celebrate AMC’s heralded and Emmy® Award-winning show Breaking Bad, whose final episodes begin on August 11 at 9pm. The weeklong celebration begins on Friday, July 26 with “Long Cook: A Breaking Bad Marathon,” a free five-day marathon screening of all previous seasons (July 26-30) at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center Amphitheater. On Thursday, August 1 and Friday, August 2, FSLC and AMC present “The Perfect Batch: Breaking Bad Cast Favorites,” for which series Creator and Executive Producer Vince Gilligan, will join stars Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Betsy Brandt, RJ Mitte and Bob Odenkirk to present their favorite episodes and participate in Q&A sessions at the Walter Reade Theater.

“Film Comment Double Feature” series continues in July/Aug focus on Jack Nicholson & Hal Ashby

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the Film Comment Double Feature lineup for July will focus on Jack Nicholson, as director and on filmmaker Hal Ashby in August. These screenings are part of an on-going monthly series of repertory double bills, launched in last year. On July 24, the Nicholson directed films Drive, He Said and Goin’ South will screen back to back and will include a DVD giveaway from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s (SPHE) manufacture-on-demand service “Sony Pictures Choice Collection” for some lucky theatergoers. Hal Ashby’s Bound for Glory will screen with Shampoo on August 19. Tickets for both events go on sale tomorrow, Thursday June 27.
