Well Then There Now

The process of working on this piece and interpreting John Zorn's shot-list-script was alternately liberating and confining. As I hope for with any collaboration, it broke open my normal routines of creation. It forced me to check some of my normal impulses and motivations, especially narrative, at the door and discover new imagistic ground. The result is a “list film” in which the singularity of the image stands front and center.—Lewis Klahr
