Now in its third year, the Daily Buzz podcast brings the latest news and hot topics from festivals to listeners across the country featuring, in-depth conversations with leading international filmmakers and talent. For those that can’t make it to noteworthy festivals, the Film Society is helping bring them a piece of the action!
At this year's Sundance Film Festival, building on the recent success of the show at last's years Sundance and SXSW fests, the Film Society of Lincoln Center is producing the program with Irene Cho. The daily program and podcast, recorded live each morning at the Village at the Lift on Main St. in Park City, is hosted by Film Society's Eugene Hernandez, a co-founder of Indiewire who is celebrating his 20th anniversary of attending the festival.
Film Society will take the show to other festivals throughout the year and host an edition at the 51st New York Film Festival this fall (September 27 – October 13).
Guests scheduled to appear at Sundance include Film Society programmers as well as noted actors and filmmakers: actress Naomi Watts, who will join director Anne Fontaine to talk about their anticipated Sundance premiere, Two Mothers; renowned international auteur Park Chan Wook, whose film Stoker will premiere this weekend; Sightseers director Ben Wheatley; and Travis Mathews, director of the provocative new gay art film starring James Franco, Interior. A number of acclaimed documentary directors will sit down to talk about their new movies, including RJ Cutler (The World According to Dick Cheney), Lucy Walker (The Crash Reel) and Carl Deal and Tia Lessin (Citizen Koch).
Each show begins with a round of hot topics featuring critics and journalists sharing the latest buzz on the movies and deals making waves at the fest. Among those set to weigh in are Brooks Barnes (New York Times), Brian Brooks (Movieline), Scott Foundas (Village Voice), Anne Thompson (Indiewire), and Scott Macaulay (Filmmaker Magazine).
Industry insiders will participate in one-on-one interviews including film producer Christine Vachon, Columbia University dean Ira Deutchman from Emerging Pictures, Creative Capital Foundation head Ruby Lerner and top film sales agent John Sloss.
Presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and produced by Irene Cho, this third annual edition of the Daily Buzz from Sundance is presented locally in association with Salt Lake City public radio station KRCL (90.9FM) and will stream on the Film Society's FilmLinc.com, as well as via an iTunes podcast.
Past guests of the show include Oscar nominees Benh Zeitlin (Beasts of the Southern Wild), David France (How to Survive a Plague) and Kirby Dick (The Invisible War).
