Location, Location, Location: The Future of Film In a Geotagged World

In this dynamic presentation, we will explore location as a backdrop for filmed entertainment and compelling narrative, as a vehicle for both commercial and non-commercial content. In the first part of the presentation, we will present a framework for thinking about “location-based media”, and show some leading-edge examples of this entirely new art form. In the second part, a diverse panel of well-known storytellers from film, stage, print, and advertising, will discuss the future of multimedia in a geo-tagged world. The panel will cover topics including immersion, curation, and the interplay between “online experiences” and “offline experiences”. The discussion will also explore the meaning of “relevance” as it relates to audiences who are fully mobile-enabled. Speakers include Steve Schultz (Moveable Feast Media); ; Bill Plympton (Animator); Amy Neswald (Indie Filmmaker), Thomas Kail (Theater Director), Jason Sondhi (Vimeo, Short of the Week), Felix Thompson (Indie Filmmaker)
