NYFF Has a Secret (Screening)

At Film Society of Lincoln Center, we've become a secretive bunch.

At last year's 49th New York Film Festival, we announced a surprise screening of a world premiere of a work-in-progress by a major filmmaker. That film turned out to be Martin Scorsese's 3D delight Hugo, and it went on to win five Academy Awards.

Then at this year's New Directors/New Films festival, presented with the Museum of Modern Art, our Closing Night screening was a secret from the get-go. This time around it was Benh Zeitlin's critical darling Beasts of the Southern Wild, which won four awards at Cannes, two awards at Sundance, and a host of others. Needless to say it has some serious Oscar buzz around it going into this year's award season.

If you thought we'd stop there, you're crazy! We're excited to announce that on Monday, October 8 at 6:15pm in Alice Tully Hall, another work-in-progress will be shocking NYFF audiences—and all but a few employees—when the lights go down and the (figurative) curtain goes up. We can't tell you much else about it yet, but rest assured that, as with Hugo and Beasts, you'll definitely want to be able to say you saw this film before anyone else... at the historic event that is the 50th New York Film Festival!

Tickets to this Secret Screening are $20 for Film Society Members & Patrons and $24 for General Public. Member tickets go on sale Thursday, October 4 at 12:00pm online and at the Alice Tully Hall box office. General Public tickets go on sale Friday, October 5 at 12:00pm online and at the Alice Tully Hall box office.
