The Iron Horse

The Iron Horse
Series: The 45th New York Film Festival [Sep 28 - Oct 14 2007]
Director: John Ford, Country: USA, Release: 1924, Runtime: 134

Presenting The Iron Horse with a live orchestra is a massive undertaking. Unfortunately, key components that would ensure the calibre of presentation that the film demands were insurmountable for the evening planned at Avery Fisher hall on Monday, October 1. Therefore, we had no other choice but to cancel the event.

If you purchased tickets to this event at either the Rose Hall or Avery Fisher Hall box office, you can get a refund or an exchange by going directly to the Avery Fisher Box Office window or you can send your tickets back by mail to the Alice Tully Box Office (att: Iron Horse Refund, Alice Tully Hall Box Office, 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY 10023.

If you purchased your tickets online, please write to ticketing@filmlinc.com to obtain a refund.

With The Iron Horse, John Ford — theretofore known for his action-packed two-reel westerns — came to be regarded as one of Hollywood’s most important directors. An epic tale about the building of the transcontinental railroad, this mammoth production was three years in the making, employed over 5000 extras and necessitated the building of two entire towns. Yet beyond its impressive technical achievements, Ford proved his mastery with narrative, artfully weaving a revenge tale into the fabric of American history. A veritable treasure chest of the director’s most favored themes and motifs, this milestone of American cinema--which will be screened digitally--has now been lovingly restored by 20th Century Fox to its full glory. A live orchestra, playing a new, specially commissioned score by Christopher Caliendo, will accompany this screening.

A 20th Century Fox release.
