The Inner Life of Martin Frost
Series: New Directors/New Films [March 21 - April 1 2007]
Director: Paul Auster, Country: USA, Release: 2007, Runtime: 94

Having submitted his manuscript to his publisher, renowned novelist Martin Frost needs to recharge himself in seclusion. He is loaned a place in the country—where his isolation is short-lived. For his second feature film, American novelist and director Paul Auster plays with the character from his 2002 novel, The Book of Illusion. The incomparable David Thewlis essays the writer looking for peace, and Irene Jacób, Michael Imperioli and Sophie Auster play his unwelcome guests. Without missing a beat in moving from the page to the screen, Auster’s serio-comic fantasy narrative remains mysterious, haunting, and enticing.

Newark-born Paul Auster is one of America’s most respected authors. His books include “The New York Trilogy,” “The Brooklyn Follies” and the 2007 novel, “Travels in the Scriptorium.” The Inner Life of Martin Frost is his second feature film.
