May 4 – 10
This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Columbia University Film Festival, a program of screenings, dramatic readings and special events that premieres over 40 thesis short films and a dozen feature screenplays and teleplays by MFA students in the Film Program at Columbia University School of the Arts. Many of the Festival’s films have gone on to win top awards and honors at other prestigious festivals worldwide. This is the first time that the festival has been co-presented by the Film Society.
The CUFF will open with a 25 Year Celebration in Alice Tully Hall, featuring a selection of the best student short films from the past 25 years, presented by esteemed alumni of the program, including Adam Davidson, Joan Stein, Lisa Cholodenko, NIcole Holofcener, Kimberly Pierce, Greg Mottola and Courtney Hunt, among many others. The festival will also consist of screenings of new student films at the Walter Reade Theater, plus a Screenwriting Night, Student Selects evening, Faculty Selects evening and special panel discussions at Lincoln Center and multiple other venues throughout the city.
