Adopted as a baby by a Spanish family, Wilaya (a lovely performance by non-pro Nadhira Mohamed) is forced to return to a desert refugee camp in the Western Sahara to care for her siblings after her mother’s death. Accustomed to a very different life, she bristles under the restrictions of the community, but slowly creates a place for herself while helping expand opportunities for other woman. A sensitive, insightful look at a clash of cultures without winners or losers.
