The Outside Man
Un homme est mort | Jacques Deray, 1973
France | English & French with English Subtitles | 104 minutes

Jean-Louis Trintignant is imported to L.A. for a by-the-numbers hit, gets double-crossed, and struggles to stay alive with both hometown killer Roy Scheider and the LAPD on his tail. Only with the help of foxy ex-moll Ann-Margret does the fish-out-of-water Frenchman have a chance at survival, hiding out among the run-down surroundings of strip bars, motels, and Venice Beach (and having his first TV dinner to boot). With Angie Dickinson as a mobster’s wife, and a score by Michel Legrand.
