Diegues returns to the heroic subject of his first film, Ganga Zumba, with Tony Tornado starring as the legendary leader of runaway slaves who have fled a sugar cane mill in Pernambuco. Zumba’s godson and heir Zumbi (Antônio Pompêo) rebels against his father’s more conciliatory ways by confronting Brazil’s massive colonial army.
