Loves of a Blonde
Loves of a Blonde
Lásky jedné plavovlásky | Milos Forman, 1965
Czechoslovakia | 90 minutes
Set in a factory town with a 16:1 female-to-male imbalance, Forman’s instantly appealing film mines teenage romance behind the Iron Curtain for comic, bittersweet irony. At a hilariously awkward mixer peopled by balding reservists, young Andula falls for a lanky pianist. After a shy rendez-vous (tenderly shot, in Miroslav Ondicek’s black-and-white photography), her attempt to follow up with a surprise visit results in the seemingly inescapable come-down to reality.
