Rainer Werner Fassbinder

German actor, writer and director Rainer Werner Fassbinder completed more than 40 films in less than 20 years before his death at the age of 37. His notable BRD trilogy: Marriage of Maria Braun (1979), Veronika Voss (1982) and Lola (1981) focuses on three different women in post-World War II West Germany (or BRD, Bundesrepublik Deutschland) and his most critically-acclaimed film, Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (1974), won two Cannes Film Festival awards giving him international recognition.
