Born in 1973 in Shiraz, Iran, Mohammad Rasoulof received a degree in Sociology from the prestigious Shiraz University. He also studied editing at the Sooreh University in Tehran. The Twilight, his first feature film, received several international awards. Goodbye was selected as part of the Un Certain Regard category at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. In December 2010, an Iranian court sentenced Rasoulof and the director Jafar Panahi to six years in jail, and barred them from making films for 20 years. The two were released on bail pending an appeal.
