Gabriel Achim

Gabriel Achim is the latest acclaimed addition to the Romanian New Wave, with his feature debut, “Adalbert’s Dream,” having its U.S. premiere at the 6th Romanian Film Festival at the Film Society in 2011. The film inventively employs old VHS technology to recreate the day after the famous 1986 Steaua Bucharest soccer victory, which also happens to be the Romanian Communist Party’s anniversary. Festival notices hailed Achim for his wry humor and complex eye for detail.
