Free Radicals: Serge Bozon and the New French Cinema Begins Today!

If you were among the many Francophiles and cineastes who flocked to the Walter Reade this past March for our annual Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, this series is not to be missed. Spanning six days, and featuring fifteen films from the enfants terribles of La lettre du cinéma, Free Radicals is the first major U.S. survey of films by this genre-bending collective of critic-filmmakers.

In addition to a great line-up of films, we are thrilled to offer our audience the rare opportunity to see and hear from directors Jean-Charles Fitoussi, Benjamin Esdraffo, Aurélia Georges, and of course, Serge Bozon. Bozon, who also happens to be quite an accomplished DJ will be spinning in the Furman Gallery on Friday, April 15th, following the 8:30 screening of FEMMES FEMMES– an evening that is sure to be a hit!

For more information on Bozon and his circle, we recommend taking a look at this Film Comment piece by Scott Foundas. For dates and times, please visit filmlinc.com or contact the Walter Reade box office at 212.875.5610.

Patrons are invited to direct questions and ticket orders to Matt Bolish, Patrons Program Coordinator at 212.875.5668 or via email at mbolish@filmlinc.com.

Fifty years after Jean-Luc Godard and the Young Turks of Cahiers du cinéma, another “new wave” of critic-filmmakers hailing from the iconoclastic magazine is boldly storming the gates of the French film establishment. Made in a collective spirit, using many of the same actors and crew, these highly literate, deeply romantic, formally inventive works introduce a group of prodigious young talents. At the center of this constellation is the writer, director, actor, lyricist and DJ Serge Bozon (La France), who will join us to present this first major U.S. survey of films by the Lettre du cinéma circle.
