Fifteen Documentaries Named to Oscar Shortlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 15-film shortlist for Best Documentary Feature. This year's list includes three New York Film Festival titles (First Cousin Once Removed, The Square, Tim's Vermeer), two New Directors/New Films alums (The Act of Killing, Stories We Tell), two Human Rights Watch Film Festival presentations (Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, Which Way Is the Front Line from Here? The Life and Time of Tim Hetherington), and two films that had theatrical runs at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (Blackfish, 20 Feet From Stardom).
