See the New Clip of Alexander Payne’s ‘Nebraska’ Coming to NYFF

Alexander Payne's Nebraska.

Almost everyone longs for a windfall of cash and Woody is not going to let distance, weather or cynical relatives stop him from claiming what's his as seen in this clip of Alexander Payne's Nebraska. After debuting at the Cannes Film Festival,  Nebraska has been waiting for its North American debut at the upcoming New York Film Festival where it will begin its U.S. festival run.

The Savannah Film Festival will screen Nebraska as its Opening Film, according to The Playlist. Bruce Dern, who picked up an Acting Award in Cannes, will present Payne with an Outstanding Achievement in Cinema prize.

In the film, Dern plays Woody who receives a letter from a Publishers Clearing House-type group that he has won a million dollars. His son David (Will Forte) tells him the letter is fake, while and his tough-minded wife (June Squibb) tells her husband he's a flat-out fool. Woody is crusty and perhaps experiencing the onset of dementia, but he's focused on the money he believes is his. The recently released clip below shows Woody taking to the road to travel to the next state to claim his winnings, but his son runs interference.

"When I saw the material, I knew I had to go after the role however I could…" said Dern in Cannes in May. "I didn't have a relationship with my father, but at the end of this movie, I found my father and that's Alexander."

The film is set to be released theatrically November 22.
