DeLia making Mary Pickford biopic
Billy Bates filmmaker Jennifer DeLia is making a Mary Pickford biopic titled The First, according to Indiewire. Beginning in childhood, DeLia will show Pickford’s journey from her vaudeville days to her marriage to Douglas Fairbanks. The First will star Lily Rabe as Mary Pickford, Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire) as actor Owen Moore, and Ryan Simpkins (Revolutionary Road) as young Pickford.

"I didn't know that Pickford was the pioneer that she was and that she had the journey from childhood that she had," DeLia said. "I knew she was a silent screen legend and the first movie star. I didn't realize that she had helped make Hollywood culture as a fierce businesswoman.”

Working with Fairbanks’ great-grandson Dominick Fairbanks and Julie Pacino and co-writer Josh Fagin, DeLia’s film is based on Eileen Whitfield’s biography Pickford: The Woman Who Made Hollywood. "We're looking at letters and family memorabilia that have never been donated to collections or archives," DeLia said. “It's more complicated than a simple profile of America's Sweetheart. She was constantly ahead of the game."

The First does not yet have a release date.

Chasing Ice changes minds
A woman gave an emotional and thoughtful video response to climate change after viewing Jeff Orlowski’s Chasing Ice. She watches "Bill O’Reilly everyday," but after Chasing Ice she changed on her views on global warming and her human responsibility to the environment. Check out the full video at Indiewire.

Lenny Kravitz to play Marvin Gaye
Julien Temple’s Marvin Gaye biopic, Sexual Healing, will star Lenny Kravitz, according to Total Film. Loosely based on Trouble Man: The Life and Death of Marvin Gaye by Steve Turner, Sexual Healing will show Gaye’s life in the 1980s when drug addiction and industry disagreements led to a fall in his career, and then Gaye’s comeback with bestselling album Midnight Love. Production is set for early 2013.
