Listen now:

Film Society's Daily Buzz sat down with Michael Philips of the Chicago Tribune, Logan Hill of the New York Times, and Adam Cook of Mubi for our first Hot Topics roundtable from the 66th Cannes Film Festival. The three critics discussed their overall impressions, favorite films, and most striking movie moments from the first half of the festival.

Michael Philips on Ari Folman’s The Congress: “The crowd in the rain here at Cannes, the longest line, the most finagling I had to do with my badge, the most lying I did, really, to get into a screening…”

Logan Hill on the festival atmosphere: “I just love the crazy spectacle of Cannes: no place is… more crass and more refined at the same time than Cannes.”

Adam Cook on Cannes' role in the industry: “[Cannes] really determines the trajectory for movies for the rest of the year… I don’t know if that’s something we should be celebrating.”
