The nineteen-hour marathon film screening will be shown over two days in several parts, each roughly 150 minutes in length, with breaks in between each part, and with a longer break each day for dinner. This program is presented in association with Lincoln Center Festival 2001.
Screenings will run as follows: THE PEONY PAVILION will have Chinese and English subtitles. Chinese food – as well as American snacks – will be served in the lobby of the Walter Reade Theater during breaks. Two types of tickets will be available: a Weekend Pass for $35 will go on sale at the Walter Reade Theater box office and on the Film Society Website, www.filmlinc.com, in June; and Single-Day Tickets, priced at $20 per day, will go on sale at the box office, on the Web, and by phone at 212-496-3809, beginning July 1. (Note: There is a $1 surcharge on all tickets bought online or by phone.) Standby Tickets for single episodes will be on sale at the box office on the day of the screening for $9 per episode. Stephanie Berger’s stunning photographic documentation of the creation and performance of the Lincoln Center Festival 1999 production of The Peony Pavilion will be on display to the public from June 29 - August 9, 2001 at the Freida and Roy Furman Gallery at the Walter Reade Theater.
