presented by Annette Insdorf author of: Double Lives, Second Chances: The Cinema of Krzysztof Kieslowski

An illustrated guide to the films of the celebrated Polish filmmaker of whom Roger Ebert writes: "How rare for a director to combine such joy in filmmaking and such intelligence. Kieslowski's great subject is how our moral choices determine the way in which we live with ourselves. He was a great director and, crucially to his work, a good man." (Miramax Books, $23.95)

Special Screening: CAMERA BUFF / AMATOR
Krzysztof Kieslowski, 1980; 112m

When a new father (Jerzy Stuhr) buys a movie camera to shoot precious footage of his baby, this cinematic amateur is soon designated official recorder of worklife at the factory where he's employed. But it's not long until the bosses find his documentary views politically objectionable. Kieslowski serves up sharp satire in this low-key allegory of the artist inevitably at odds with a repressive culture, without losing sight of the artist's often obsessive preoccupation with his craft.

Ms. Insdorf will be present to introduce the 6:15 CAMERA BUFF, for Q and A after the screening, and to sign her new book in the WRT gallery.

Mon Nov 1: 1 pm, 3:30 pm, 6:15 pm and 9 pm
