Mila from Mars
Fleeing an abusive relationship, Mila finds herself in a border town, pregnant, alone, and, to her surprise, welcome. Not having known much kindness, she goes into emotional hiding but by the time the baby is born she has a new life and love. Her past, however, is not far behind. A graduate of NYC’s School of Visual Arts, Sophia Zornitsa’s film has a propulsive inventiveness, but it’s not just about style—it’s about the kindness of strangers and life’s unexpected turns.
